For Dane, financial planning is a profession focused on helping people live better lives through competent, ethical advice. As CEO of CFP Board, Dane leads the organization responsible for setting and upholding the standards for CFP® certification. His work focuses on strengthening the profession by expanding access to financial planning, enhancing the value of CFP® certification and fostering a profession equipped to serve people from communities across America. Before becoming CEO in March 2026, Dane served as CFP Board’s Chief Operating Officer, a member of its Board of Directors (2017-2020) and has spent his career at the intersection of public policy and consumer impact. He has held senior leadership roles at the Internet Association, NCTA-The Internet & Television Association and CTIA—The Wireless Association. Dane earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from William & Mary. He is married and the proud father of a young daughter.
