Planning Specialties
At Equila Financial, I help you connect your money to the meaning in your life. Whether you're an independent woman building wealth on your own terms, a small business owner balancing personal and business goals, a member of the LGBTQ+ community seeking inclusive guidance, or a STEM professional navigating complex compensation packages, I provide personalized financial planning that reflects your unique priorities and values. As a fiduciary, I am legally and ethically required to always put your best interests first. I offer two service models to meet you where you are: Stand-Alone Financial Planning: Financial planning covering all aspects of your financial life—from building a strong foundation with debt management and emergency funds, to setting savings goals and investment strategies you're comfortable with, protecting your assets from risks, and optimizing your tax situation to keep more of what you make. I can provide this as a flat-fee engagement or hourly for smaller projects. Full-Service Wealth Management: Combines ongoing financial planning with investment management. I act as your personal Chief Financial Officer in a long-term relationship, helping with all your financial questions and life transitions. Client assets are held in accounts at Schwab in your name, where I have trading authority. A tiered percentage-based fee is taken quarterly from managed accounts. Investment advisory services offered through Equita Financial Network, Inc. Equita Financial Network also markets investment advisory services under the name Equila Financial. CFP Board owns the CFP® mark in the U.S. Investing in securities involves risks, including the potential for loss of principal. There is no guarantee that any investment plan or strategy will be successful.Additional Information
Born and raised in New York City, I started my professional career planning to be an Astrophysicist. After receiving a BA in Physics from Princeton University and a MS in Physics from Caltech, I realized that being a research scientist was not a good match for my problem solving, planning oriented personality. So I shifted gears into a career in the defense industry, designing software systems and then managing multi-million-dollar programs for large and small defense contractors.
In 2014, while enrolled in the University of New Mexico’s Executive MBA program, I decided to combine my long-term interest in investing with my extensive experience in planning and risk management to help others improve their financial lives. I co-founded Intentional Finance, LLC, in 2017, a state registered RIA firm where I provided financial planning and wealth management. In 2024 I transitioned to a fee-only practice, founding my own firm, Equila Financial, LLC, and joining Equita Financial Network, a collective of independent female financial advisors that share the core values I feel are essential to providing the best financial advice: a focus on the client’s values and goals, professional expertise, transparency, and absolute integrity.
I met my husband Paul, a laser physicist, while working in Southern CA. After getting married in Yosemite Valley, we moved to the Land of Enchantment, aka New Mexico, in 1992 in search of a beautiful and less crowded place to raise a family. Our two adult children have now made it successfully out into the “real world,” leaving me to focus my spare time on our four horses, two dogs, and four cats, while Paul practices astrophotography in the observatory he built in our back yard and plans for the next eclipse trip.
