Job Description

PJS Investment Management is an independent, SEC Registered, Fee-only investment management and financial planning firm. We are seeking an experienced Financial Planner to participate in all aspects of the financial advisory process. Primary duties will be to provide Financial Planning services and advice to PJS clients as a member of our team. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to: developing and managing client investment portfolios, directing and preparing financial plans, and meeting and interacting with prospective and existing clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Being responsible for analyzing a client’s situation, formulating a financial plan, completing written recommendations, and presenting the results to the client(s).

• Facilitate and follow up on the implementation of the planning recommendations.

• Participate as a member of the firm’s investment committee, which would require investment and economic research as well as assisting in the construction and management of investment portfolios.

• Help deepen the planning engagement while advising clients under the team leader and along with other team members.

• Build professional relationships that generate prospective clients for the firm.

• Maintain a solid knowledge of financial and investment principles, estate planning techniques, as well as current tax law.

• Develop proposals for prospective clients. This entails gathering all client financial information and creating a detailed approach for transitioning and deploying assets.

• Actively support clients by assisting the team with trading, client service, paperwork, etc.


Experience and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field.

• CFP® designation preferred while holding the CFA designation and/or holding a Masters Degree is a plus.

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in the financial services industry, of which 3 years must have been spent working directly with clients.

• 3+ years’ holistic wealth planning experience.

• Advanced knowledge of concepts and practices relating to financial planning and investment management.

• Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as presentation and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a goal-oriented team.

• Desire and ability to work successfully in a small company.

• Proficient with software applications, including knowledge of: Microsoft Office, CRM software (RedTail), portfolio management (Advent APX), Trading (RedBlack and Fidelity), and financial planning software (eMoney). Experience using Morningstar and Bloomberg research a plus.

• Ability to travel for business trips (mostly day trips with the occasional over-night trip).
