Planning Specialties

At True Financial, our specialty is comprehensive, relationship-based planning for clients whose financial lives involve more than one account, one product, or one annual review.

We help physicians, dentists, business owners, entrepreneurs, retirees, pre-retirees, and families connect the moving pieces of their financial lives: investments, retirement, taxes, cash flow, insurance, estate planning, business decisions, family responsibilities, charitable goals, and the life they want to build.

Core specialties include retirement planning, investment management, tax-aware planning, business owner and medical practice planning, estate planning coordination, insurance review, education funding, charitable and legacy planning, and employer retirement plan consulting.

What makes our work different is integration. Retirement, business, and investment decisions can affect taxes, Social Security, Medicare, cash flow, insurance, liquidity, succession, family support, and long-term wealth. Good planning brings those pieces together so decisions are not made in isolation.

We do not sell products, earn commissions, chase trends, or hand clients a generic report. Good planning requires listening, judgment, direct access, and an ongoing relationship.

Our goal is to help clients make better decisions, stay organized, reduce complexity, and use their financial resources with purpose. Every dollar should have a job connected to what matters most.

Additional Information

Gary Birdsall Jr. is a CFP® professional, fiduciary financial advisor, and licensed Louisiana attorney. His work is shaped by a belief that good advice should help people make thoughtful decisions, protect what matters, and use their resources with purpose.

After earning his law degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 2012, Gary helped launch and operate an independent primary-care clinic. For more than five years, he was involved in business operations, insurance processes, strategic growth, and population health work. That experience gave him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by physicians, medical professionals, business owners, and families balancing personal, professional, and financial responsibilities.

Gary transitioned to financial planning in 2018. His approach combines legal training, business experience, investment knowledge, and deep respect for each client’s values, family priorities, and definition of success.

Gary’s perspective was also shaped by surviving a severe car accident in college that left him unable to walk unassisted for nearly three years. Multiple surgeries, long recoveries, and later spinal complications changed how he thinks about risk, uncertainty, resilience, time, and planning. That experience influences how he shows up for clients facing major transitions, complex decisions, or an unclear path forward.

Originally from Cut Off, Louisiana, Gary now lives in Houma with his wife, Kandice, and their two children. Outside of work, he enjoys offshore fishing, camping, gardening, cooking fresh catches, traveling with his family, and experiencing local culture, food, and adventure.

In life and in planning, Gary does not believe in magic products, shortcuts, or one-size-fits-all answers. He believes meaningful planning helps people focus on what they can control and build a financial life connected to their values, responsibilities, family, and future.
