The Person
We are looking for an organized, trustworthy, and proactive Wealth Advisor who can effectively collaborate with our advisory team, managing multiple projects within the organization and for our clients. With strong written and verbal communication skills, this empowered and intuitive team member is thoughtful and forward looking. Knowing when to take charge and ownership. Responsibilities
In this role, a Wealth Advisor requires mature client relationship skills to handle both non-advisory and advisory questions and concerns from clients as well as attentiveness to process and firm operations.
A Sterling Wealth Advisor provides technical financial planning and investment management work to our clients, collaborating with other professional advisors in the firm. In this role, the Wealth Advisor understands and engages in client service and direct relationship management for existing clients, development of financial planning recommendations, creation of client deliverables and presentation of advice in client meetings, ensuring that advice and other recommendations is executed. This professional must have obtained their CFP® designation (or are awaiting certification) and had at least two to five years of experience in the advisory or related profession. They must be familiar and fluent in understanding a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures, and rely on extensive experience and judgement to help clients solve complex financial and investment management issues. Strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively is a must.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities – Wealth Advisor:
• Conduct on-going client meetings, including regular and initial planning meetings
• Solve complicated financial planning, estate, tax, cash flow, charitable planning, risk management and retirement issues
• Help determine investment strategies for clients, including the creation of investment policy statements and portfolio allocation reports
• Support all of the wealth management services of the firm
• Collect, organize and review data gathered from clients for all areas of planning
• Obtain mastery of our planning tools and resources used to prepare and make recommendations for our clients
• Work with Senior Advisor to manage and leverage work needing to be completed
• Contribute to the development, research and implementation of new processes and procedures for financial planning/wealth management area of the firm
• Assist with client communications, such as writing educational or service-related articles for the firm newsletter/blog/website/other client communications
• Maintain electronic files with updated client information, prepare reports, correspondence, and complete special projects as appropriate
• Assist with additional client service and operations related projects as needed
• Complete special projects as appropriate
Qualifications:
The Wealth Advisor position typically requires the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• CFP® designation with two to five years’ experience in the advisory or related fields
• Possesses self-confidence, a commitment to personal and professional integrity, and a drive to meet and exceed personal and professional goals
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment; willing to be mentored
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and listening skills
Required
• 4-year college degree
• CFP® Certificant (or have passed the CFP® exam and are awaiting completion of the experience requirements)
• Two to five years’ experience in the advisory or related fields
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint)
• This is an in-person position at firm headquarters (Champaign, IL)
Preferred
• Experience with financial planning software (e.g. eMoney, MoneyGuide Pro)
