Financial Analyst

Sycamore Financial Planning is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our independent, fee-only, financial planning firm in either our Durham or Charlotte offices. This position is an entry-level position in our financial planning career track offering an amazing opportunity to develop a career, guide clients through important decisions, and shape the future of our cutting-edge financial planning firm.

• Assist in all aspects of the financial planning process including assistance with gathering and organizing client information.
• Support the planning team in maintaining client relationships.
• Collaborate with the planning team in preparation for client meetings.
• Communicate with clients and following up on action items as needed.
• Enthusiastically participate in professional associations such as FPA and NAPFA.
• Work with the firm’s Senior Financial Planner in an intentional apprenticeship program designed to prepare you for the role of Associate Financial Planner.

• Interest in pursuing the CFP® designation.
• The highest level of ethical responsibility and respect for client privacy.
• Accuracy and attention to detail for record keeping and working with client information.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills as well as strong computer skills including expert use of Microsoft Office, financial planning software, and customer relationship management software.
• Ability to understand, embrace, and communicate Sycamore’s business values, ethics, and financial planning model to potential clients.
• A friendly, confident, sincere, and empathetic approach to interpersonal relationships.
• The desire and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications for this opportunity

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or closely related field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to logically understand complex situations, conceive possible solutions, and analyze trade-offs / outcomes.
• Core knowledge of financial industry, financial products, and financial planning concepts.
• Ability to perform basic financial analysis.
• Completion of full CFP® coursework is a plus.
• Knowledge of the firm’s financial planning and other core systems is a plus.
