Prudent Financial Planning is looking to hire a Paraplanner. Prudent Financial Planning is a growing financial firm dedicated to providing fee-only financial planning and student loan planning to young professionals.

We deliver financial planning as well as financial education. Our small team is looking to grow with the addition of a Certified Financial Planner ® (or candidate) who thrives in a flexible environment.

Our clients are primarily young professionals such as doctors and lawyers. Most of them have student loan debt. They are concerned with paying off debt, starting to invest and save for retirement, buying a house, and traveling.

Position Description:

We are seeking a part-time Certified Financial Planner ® (or candidate) to begin working with us on February 1, 2022. This is a remote position, but as we’re based in Florida, we’d love to have someone in Eastern Standard Time. Pay is between $25 - $35 per hour and is based on experience. There is room for advancement within our firm for the right candidate. You will be a 1099 employee through the end of the year and we can discuss options after that time. As our company grows, so will your compensation.

About You:

You’re a detail-oriented, self-proclaimed financial nerd who is passionate about finances. You love digging into insurance documents and investment portfolios to help young professionals get a hold of their finances. You’re not interested in working for a typical financial firm and instead are seeking a creative environment with lots of moving pieces.

You’re excited to work in a growing startup (you’ll be the third person on our team), and don’t mind the occasional inconveniences that can arise in any rapidly growing company.

You value a work-life balance but aren’t tied to the traditional five-day workweek and 9-5 schedule. In order to create flexibility for yourself, our team, and our clients, you are willing to work late a few nights per week and on the occasional weekend. You thrive in a behind-the-scenes role, enjoy paraplanning and you’re a self-starter. Finally, you’re eager to support our Lead Financial Planner as he works toward scaling our firm, and you’re excited about helping our company grow so we can make a greater impact on the lives of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial documents
  • Develop “what-if” scenarios
  • Work collaboratively to design and implement financial plans
  • Build and maintain client portals
  • Tackle a range of issues from debt to estate planning
  • Research complex financial situations and draft client emails
  • Set up and manage account openings and transfers in TD Ameritrade
  • Support Lead Financial Planner with behind-the-scenes planning
  • Prep for client meetings and create deliverables
  • Take meticulous notes
  • Support clients via email and Right Capital tasks
  • Document role for employee handbook
  • Attend weekly virtual team meetings
  • Travel up to two times a year for in-person meetings

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with financial planning or as a Client Service Associate
  • Understanding of investments
  • Experience building financial plans for real people
  • Extreme attention to and affinity for “nitty-gritty” details
  • Technology savvy (familiarity with Microsoft Office, GSuite, and Zoom) and able to quickly learn new technologies. We work in Right Capital, Wealthbox, and Capitect.
  • Ability to attend occasional paid trainings
  • Open to a flexible schedule, including working late up to 2 nights a week
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Organized with the ability to manage schedule and communicate remotely
  • High ethical standards and cultural competence
  • Empathetic and emotionally intelligent
  • Loves to work independently (introverts welcome!)

Career Path:

If we work well together, you will take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves.

First 6-12 Months: This will be a largely behind-the-scenes paraplanning role for the first several months. You must be comfortable taking on the role of mentee while you learn to excel in your eventual position as a financial planner and as a vital member of our team. You must love financial planning, because that is what you will be doing with the majority of your day. You will work independently analyzing, organizing, and preparing client documents and plans. You will also assist the Lead Financial Planner with projects, presentations, and outgoing communication.

12-18 Months: You will have the same responsibilities as before, but you will now sit in on client meetings and take detailed notes before and after meetings. During this time, you will develop a better understanding of our approach to creating strong client relationships.

18 Months and Beyond: You’re culturally competent and always think before you speak, especially when clients are involved. You now have the opportunity to take on your own client relationships while continuing behind-the-scenes work for other clients.
