Para-Planner/Client Advisor Job Description

Vawter Financial is a small, yet nationally known, Fee-Only RIA wealth management firm in Columbus, Ohio seeking a Para-Planner/Client Advisor to join our organization. We are interested in you if you are a graduate of a CFP Board registered financial planning program and are looking to continue on a career path towards becoming an exceptional financial advisor.

Position Overview

This is a professional position that will initially support our Financial Advisors in servicing our existing and potential clients. Your tasks will include doing portfolio reviews and preparing financial projections using various financial planning software programs. The ideal team member will be detail oriented, structured and have a high degree of follow-through.


Initial Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the implementation of financial plans
  • Assist in preparing custodian paperwork and following up with clients to ensure it is completed
  • Assist with onboarding new clients
  • Gather and input new client information to our various software programs
  • Ensure timely follow up on client requests and act as a point of contact when the advisor is unavailable
  • Periodically attending client meetings to expand your technical knowledge, get to know them and their financial profiles

Key Qualifications:

The most qualified individual will typically possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in Financial Planning, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field)
  • Commitment to earning the Certified Financial Planner® designation
  • Experience in tax planning a plus (but not required)
  • Takes initiative to research and resolve various client planning objectives
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple changing tasks
  • Eager to provide an exceptional client experience
  • A commitment to accurate, high quality, high quantity work
  • Is motivated for self-improvement and for that of the firm; strives to be a great team player
