The successful candidate will report to the Senior Financial Planner to produce accurate and detailed financial plans. The Financial Planner will be a key member of the Financial Planning Department and will be responsible for working as a team with our Wealth Advisors, Client Service Associates and other Financial Planners. The mission of the Financial Planning Department is to enhance the overall financial planning experience for the clients that Planning Alternatives serves. The Financial Planner is expected to have comprehensive experience in financial planning case work and analysis, utilizing financial planning software, coordination and implementation of financial planning recommendations, and experience discussing financial planning face-to-face with clients and other industry professionals.

 


Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand, produce and present accurate and comprehensive financial plans

o Understand and follow procedures for the financial planning process

o Navigate various technology platforms (eMoney, MoneyGuide Pro, Microsoft Office, Tamarac CRM, Worldox and custodian sites) to obtain and organize data

o Read and understand investment, tax, insurance, estate, and other financial statements

o Reconcile conflicting data by collaborating with the Senior Financial Planner, Advisors, CSAs and clients

o Analyze financial planning software results and implications

o Write financial plans using Microsoft Office templates

o Facilitate discussion of financial plans with advisors and clients

• Assist the Senior Financial Planner with Department needs

o Provide ongoing evaluation of internal and external financial planning software, processes and procedures with the goal of efficiency

o Participate in the Financial Planning Committee to develop content for the Planning Alternatives team

o Collaborate with other financial planners and advisors to continue to improve the financial planning experience

o Contribute key financial planning content as needed for blogs, client events, and other mediums.

• Manage high volume of plans with accuracy and timeliness

• Comply with all industry rules and regulations

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information

• Comfortable speaking with clients over the phone, through video conference, and in person

• Ability to accurately research complex financial issues

• Strong PC knowledge and ability to operate database systems

• Willingness and desire to further their financial planning education outside of normal work hours


Experience and Qualifications

• 5+ years experience delivering financial planning advice in cash flows (including straight-line and Monte Carlo analysis), retirement, tax, investment, risk management and estate planning

• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the Financial Planning Process as well as experience utilizing Financial Planning Software such as eMoney, MoneyGuide Pro, and Right Capital (eMoney preferred)

• Bachelors degree required (Business or Finance preferred)

• CFP or ChFC required (May consider Series 65 for individuals with additional experience)
