Planning Specialties

Josh Zorger founded Fortitude Private Wealth in 2014. He grew up in Northeastern Indiana and relocated to Chicago after graduating from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business to pursue a career in finance. He started his career at Bank of America in Chicago as a securities analyst within structured credit products, performing pricing and risk analysis on credit derivatives portfolios. He later joined Banc of America Investment Services in Chicago as a financial advisor. In 2007, Josh became in independent financial advisor with LPL Financial. In 2017, Josh made the decision to end his affiliation with a broker-dealer and make Fortitude Private Wealth an independent, fee-only registered investment advisory firm.

Josh is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner.  By earning certification by the CFP Board, he has taken extra-steps to demonstrate his professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP® certification process that includes highly demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements.

Honest and straightforward, Josh treats his clients like they are members of his own family. He understands and appreciates that the success of Fortitude Private Wealth is directly correlated with the financial success of his clients.

Josh and his wife Stephanie have 4 children and are active members of their community and their parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Josh enjoys coaching his children in sports activities and being a hands-on dad to their growing family.

Additional Information

As a young advisor in his early-40's, Josh will be a good fit for clients who are looking for a direct, long-term relationship with the owner of an investment advisory firm. Josh is very detail oriented and proactive with his clients. Some companies pride themselves on their size. It is Josh's experience that most investors want personalized service that is consistent. This can be a challenge for larger companies. His clients understand that they are NOT just another number.

Before hiring an Investment Advisor, Josh recommends the following checklist when making your selection.

  1. Please disclose all of the ways that you are compensated. Will your recommendations ever affect or change how you are compensated?
  2. Do you receive any type of sales related compensation or bonus?
  3. How often do you communicate with your clients? Will I have a specific review schedule?
  4. How will you make investment changes for me and how often will these changes occur? Would you have full discretion on my account to make these investment or trading changes? (Keep in mind that if the Investment Advisor does not have full discretion, you are essentially in a buy-and-hold portfolio. The fees on a buy-and-hold portfolio with minimal changes should be different then the fees on a discretionary portfolio with more activity.)
  5. Do you plan to limit the number of clients that you have in the future or set a cap on your client relationships? I have heard financial advisors brag about how many clients that they have. If a financial advisor has hundreds of clients, how will they find the time to provide great service to you?
