Additional Information
Brad spent the first part of his career as an engineer. To achieve financial independence, he thought like an engineer and researched how 'the system' works. He found that the real answers were often at odds with 'common knowledge' espoused by a wide variety of self-interested parties. After searching diligently, he identified sources of independent evidence-based research on how to plan and invest. Now retired from engineering, he enjoys helping other engineers capable of filtering out noise and understanding the lessons from independent research. Lyon Park is a fee-only, fiduciary investment advisor required by law to put clients' interests first.
Brad has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and has worked in the military, government and private sector. He served in the military as submariner and retired as a Captain in the Navy Reserve. In April 2022, he completed work to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ professional.
After spending most of his adult life in the Washington, DC metro area working for a salary, Brad achieved financial independence, pulled up stakes and moved to San Diego to live the dream of year-round great weather and the laid back lifestyle of Southern California.
When he's not helping clients, he spends time with his wife Heather on personal fitness, sailing and old cars.
