Planning Specialties

From a young age, I knew I was going to be an architect. I love designing and building things. That all changed on August 14, 1993. That day I crawled out of a mangled car with a broken back after a head-on collision on the highway. An insurance settlement prompted me to learn about investing. I read everything I could on the subject, and in the process, I discovered Wall Street's scheme to fleece investors. So, I decided to fix it from the inside. I earned a degree in finance while also earning two of the most prestigious credentials (CFA & CFP). Now I'm on a mission to engage, educate, and empower investors so they don't become victims of Wall Street. Today, I help busy professionals and other high net worth individuals with $1M+ in investable assets grow, protect, spend, and pass their wealth so they can do what they enjoy most. I help my clients in the following ways: building world-class investment portfolios based on Nobel Prize-winning academic research, implementing tax reduction strategies (asset location, Roth IRA conversions, tax-loss harvesting, trusts, charitable giving, etc.), mitigating risks to life and wealth (health, life, disability, and liability insurance strategies), creating sustainable retirement income (I've spoken to standing-room-only audiences of top advisors on the subject), and transferring wealth and decision-making efficiently (wills, power of attorney, health directives, trusts, donor-advised funds, family gifting, and charitable giving). I love helping clients tackle problems. Whether it's researching non-profits, buying a yacht, or enlisting the help of a world champion dancer and international dance judge to identify a foreign city with an active dance community, there's nothing we won't do to help a client.

Additional Information

In the summer, I guide grizzly bear expeditions in Alaska. Safely guiding photographers deep into the Alaskan bush in search of 1,000-pound grizzly bears takes careful planning, behavioral knowledge, and years of experience. Those same traits help me guide clients on their path to financial independence. I'm also an avid hiker, backpacker, kayaker, and all-around outdoor adventurer. Many of my wealth management clients have joined me on once-in-a-lifetime adventures. Will you be one of them?
