Marty Bassett, an Indiana native, was raised in Bloomington and believes his core values come from a hometown made up of a diverse  international and rural southern Indiana culture. Raised by a father from a northern Indiana farming community and a mother from Chicago, an artist, Marty was destined to have culturally rich background. He spent time at the I.U. School of Music under private instruction on a path to become a musician.  While completing his bachelors in arts at Indiana University, he was a scholarship athlete. His pursuit of excellence continued.

Marty's career in the financial services industry began in April of 1988. After brief employments with Raymond James and LPL Financial, he opened his own Registered Investment Advisory Firm. He was destined to be an entrepreneur. Marty is a recipient of the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.

Marty moved his family from Bloomington to Fort Wayne, Indiana 20 years ago. His wife is a special education teacher for a nearby middle school.  His two sons, are 24 and 20 respectively.  The older son currently resides in Seattle, Washington and my younger son is pursing a degree in computer science from Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Additional Information

With my children just leaving the nest, I am just rediscovering many of the of the things I enjoy doing.  Admittedly, my energy has been focused on family and running my own financial advisory business. Dividing my time between family, study (personal finance), and business operations has been a balancing act.

Looking back, I had a wonderful experience in high school as a runner. I learned how to execute at a high level which led me to be an entrepreneur. My pursuit of excellence has never wavered.

I do enjoy people, nature, the arts, and history.  I really enjoy meeting and getting to know people. I am fascinated by the complexity of our personalities, values, experiences, etc.

I was raised near a forest during part of my childhood and learned to really appreciate nature. We used to camp out communing with nature. Life was good! We were very imaginative. I love the beaches of Florida and sea shells. I would spend hours scanning the beach and surf for cone shells. Sanibel Island, Florida was ideal for this endeavor.  Too, I enjoy travel anywhere and have an affinity for mountains.

Before I took up running, I was a musician in grade school, so music is very important to me.  I really enjoy classical piano, but seem to find something I like about every genre. My mother was raised in Chicago and painted at the Art Institute, so I have a healthy appreciation for all the arts.

I am fascinated with history. I love to learn about what has shaped our current circumstances. If I am lucky to catch something on T.V., I am entranced. Give me a good book and I can’t put it down.
