Planning Specialties

Rob is President of the firm, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, and principal architect of the firm’s highly personalized and comprehensive Wealth Management service. Rob serves as the Lead Advisor for many of the firm’s clients, including corporate executives, business owners, entrepreneurs, successful professionals, and individuals and families.

Rob also specializes in helping business owners plan for the single, most critically important financial event in their lives – the successful transition out of their business. As part of this process, he supports owners in building value in the specific areas of their business that close the gap between where they are today and where they want to be when they successfully leave their business. Rob collaborates with owners and their other key advisors to create a plan and coordinates the work to be completed, enabling both the owner and the business to meet their long-term objectives.

Rob delights in making a difference in his clients’ lives. His passion and expertise is in partnering with clients, empowering them to clarify goals, discern next steps, and get into action. Rob enjoys collaborative work where a fresh perspective creates new possibilities and inspiration for a client. Rob has experience in the increasingly important field of behavioral investment counseling and serves as both a coach and advocate for his clients.

Rob has trained other fee-only financial planners at several NAPFA conferences, including the 2005 West Region and South Region events. One of Rob's financial planning case studies has been used for the capstone course in financial planning at the University of Georgia. As a member of the National Association of Investor's Corp. (NAIC), Rob developed investor education curriculum and has taught investment classes for the San Francisco chapter. Rob also previously served as a mentor for the Silicon Valley Planned Giving Council's Incubator Program, helping local non-profits develop their planned giving strategies.

Rob enjoys skiing, boarding, tennis, and backpacking with his wife, Catherine, and two college-graduated children. Recently, his entire family successfully climbed Mt. Whitney via the Mountaineer’s Route. He is an active member of the Palo Alto Rotary Club (serving on Board of Trustees for the Palo Alto Rotary Endowment and on the club’s program committee), and is a past President of the Woodside High School Foundation. Rob and Catherine have also served as foster parents, and have successfully supported two foster teens in graduating from high school and moving on to college.
