Additional Information

I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, CPA, and AFC® candidate and have worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years. In that time, I’ve worked with couples to help them make their money work for them.

When the government shut down on December 22, 2018 and lasted until January 15, 2019, I remember reading a news article about furloughed government workers who could not afford the gas to drive to work. They had been living paycheck to paycheck, and the shutdown meant that their paycheck stopped. Reading about that circumstance shocked me. I told myself that I needed to do something.

Curious but not a total believer, a couple months later I became a Financial Peace University instructor with my husband at our church. Over half of the attendees were people who had already attended FPU at least one other time. These couples tried to get out of debt and start saving, but they found themselves back in the hamster wheel, going in circles and not getting anywhere with their finances. I wondered why. I told myself that there was more that I could do, but I was trying to determine what that would be.

I started reading more into the whys: the psychology of money. Why do people do what they do with their money? Finding out the whys made me want to share it with others to help them get off the vicious cycle that they are on with their money.

I set up my firm, Make A Money Mindshift, to offer financial coaching first: I will teach you the WHYs surrounding your money and use tools to show you the HOWs so you can achieve your WHATs. Financial planning is offered after the completion of a financial coaching package, if desired.
