Dr. Miranda Reiter Ph.D., CFP®, Texas Tech University

Dr. Miranda Reiter is an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University. She began her career in the financial services industry in 2003 and has worked as a financial planner and banker at several Fortune 500 firms before her academic career. She created a financial planning firm in 2013, She & Money Financial Planning. Her financial advice has been quoted in popular media outlets such as the BBC, US News, USA Today, and Forbes. In addition to her career in financial services, Dr. Reiter has taught at several educational institutions in the U.S., France, and the Ivory Coast. She has recently received recognition for her work in financial planning including: 2020 Omicron Nu Research Fellowship (Kappa Omicron Nu), 2020 Center for Financial Security Junior Scholar (University of Wisconsin-Madison), 2019 Financial Planning Association Best Research Award, 2019 40 Under 40 Award (InvestmentNews), and the 2018 Financial Planning Association Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship. Dr. Reiter earned her Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. Her research interests are race, gender, and diversity in financial planning as well as consumer financial behavior. She has recently published work in the Journal of Financial Planning, the Journal of Financial Therapy, and the Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal.

Dr. Kimberly Watkins, Ph.D., University of Georgia

Dr. Kimberly Watkins is an assistant professor in the Department of Financial Planning, Housing, and Consumer Economics at The University of Georgia. Dr. Watkins's research interests center on financial well-being, financial planning pedagogy, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the financial planning field. Dr. Watkins has published her research in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Family and Economic Issues, Journal of Financial Planning, and Financial Services Review. She has taught classes in financial planning and personal finance, and she previously worked as a federal human resources specialist. Dr. Watkins received her Ph.D. in financial planning from The University of Georgia in 2018. She is married to her husband, Daniel, and she is the proud mama of 6-year-old twins, Harper and Mason.

Dr. James Pogue, PhD., JP Enterprises

Dr. Pogue provides thought leadership to leaders and organizations to push them to address Diversity, Inclusion and Bias (DIBs)™; directly and significantly. As the President and CEO of JP Enterprises he has spearheaded the development of The DIBs Model ™, a critical component of the organization’s work and success.

An outgrowth of research and grounded in theory, this model spawned the DIBs Assessment ™. a tool used to measure where an organization, team or individual are on their diversity journey, thus providing the best opportunity for strategic

recommendations and change.

Dr. Pogue is also the creator of The No Nonsense Experience™, a diversity discussion series that leverages cohort learning and emergent best practices to keep participants ‘The RIGHT Kind of Uncomfortable’™.

His expertise and experienced content delivery take the form of Keynotes and Toolkits, thought-provoking Workshops and Webinars, or Executive Coaching. Dr. Pogue supports leaders in making the decisions that attract, engage, and retain talent at all levels; and deepens the learning around Diversity, Inclusion, and Bias. His military service, scope of research and work as a speaker and entrepreneur give him tangible examples of the critical balance between leaders and followers on teams.

He provides leaders with professionally researched data, partnered with highly engaged training to improve their ability to influence organizational behavior and the bottom line.

In his leisure time, he occasionally competes as a martial artist where he has five national titles, in addition to Silver and Bronze medals at the World Championships. Dr. Pogue has two daughters and six granddaughters.

Luis F. Rosa, CFP® EA, Build a Better Financial Future, LLC, Co-founder of the BLX Internship Program

Luis is the founder of Build a Better Financial Future LLC. He came to the U.S. at age 11 from the Dominican Republic. Growing up in New York City and now living in California, Luis noticed the lack of financial literacy in his community and was inspired by his parents to work hard and pursue an education.

From participating as an FPA NexGen and CFP Board ambassador, to speaking at the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning’s Diversity Summit, Luis uses his platform to help spread financial literacy via media outreach as well as encourage younger and diverse planners to join and thrive in the industry.

He is the host of the “On My Way to Wealth” podcast, co-founder of the BlatinX (BLX) Internship Program and LatinXcellence – an initiative that seeks to bring awareness to and help close the wealth gap in the LatinX community. Luis was named one of InvestmentNews 40 Under 40 in 2019 and Financial Advisor Magazine’s 10 Young Advisors to Watch, as well as Investopedia Top 100 Financial Advisors in 2020 and 2021 and named one of 8 Hispanic Personal Finance Influencers to Follow for Money Advice by The Penny Hoarder.
