How would you like to Live?

What would you like to Learn?

What support do you need to Grow?

- Michael Martinez, Founder
Live, Learn, Grow Wealth Management

LIVE.

LEARN.

GROW.

ABOUT US

Live, Learn, Grow Wealth Management is an Independent, Fiduciary, Fee-only, Boutique, Registered Investment Advisory firm.

Why Us:

The top 3 benefits of working with Live, Learn, Grow Wealth Management:

  1. Judgement Free Zone. For the majority of our clients, working with us is their first experience into comprehensive financial and investment planning. Like many of us, they grew up in households where managing money was seldom discussed; and money or investments were not learned in school.

  2. Preparation Beats Panic. Most of us have three things in common. We resist change, fear the unknown, and tend to procrastinate. Regardless of what we wish for, opportunities and obstacles will happen. We help our clients grow to be proactive instead of reactive.

  3. Bad Decisions. Have you ever started a sentence with, “I have a great idea” or “Don’t worry, I know exactly what I’m doing” and then have it not turn out the way you expected? Part of our work is helping people reduce the frequency, minimize the impact, and/or completely avoid making bad decisions.

Our Clients

Each client that allows us the opportunity to work with them is different. However, there are 8 common themes they express during our conversations:

  1. Frustration They are looking for solutions to the things which frustrate them.
  2. Fear They have fears they want to address.
  3. Curiosity They are curious about what they can accomplish in life.
  4. Ambition They are determined to create a life on their terms.
  5. Understanding They not only want to understand how the different parts of their life become cohesive pieces, but they want to be understood.
  6. Learning They are open to deepening and expanding their knowledge.
  7. Structure They want an effective structure that is simple to implement.
  8. Relationship They value a relationship built on respect, and which makes the complex simple through guidance, leadership, understanding, encouragement, and education.

From these general characteristics, our clients are one or a combination of the following niches:

  • Independents.  Individuals who manage their finances independently, regardless of their relationship status.
  • Newlyweds.  New couples beginning their life together, whether it is their first time or the next time, and who want to be “money smart from the start.”
  • Blended Families.  Some blended families cohabitate as independents, others marry, and many fall somewhere in-between. The common characteristic is the extra level of complexity with respect to “what is yours, mine, and/or ours” at the various stages of their relationship.
  • 10/30 Crew.  The 10/30 Crew are those with the objective of making work optional within the next 10 years while simultaneously creating a structure to maintain their lifestyle for the next 30 years and beyond.

OUR PROCESS

The journey of our collaboration, while similar in structure, is unique to each household and each individual. The steps are:

Step 1:

Call to learn about each other.

  • Share your story with us and let us learn about you.
  • Learn what we do.
  • Learn what we don’t do.
  • Learn about our methodology.
  • Our “2 questions about Fit.” Hint: They have nothing to do with how much money you have.

Step 2:

Understanding meeting

  • First and foremost, no decision will be made at this meeting.
  • Share your needs, wants, wishes, and dreams.
  • A walk-through of our process and client experience.

Step 3:

Decision conversation

  • “Yes, let’s work together” and discuss steps 4 and 5.
  • “No, appreciate the conversation” and provide you other resources.
  • “Not sure, please clarify” provide clarity and schedule our next decision conversation.

Step 4:

Preengagement Phase

  • Many times, anything new can feel exciting and yet cause some anxiety.  The preengagement phase was established to address these issues.  You assemble your financial data and documents along with your needs, wants, wishes, and dreams.
  • This phase allows us the time to better understand you and your priorities based on your: frustrations, fears, curiosities, and ambitions.  This is why we only bring on new clients 4 times a year, in the months of January, April, July, and October and allow for a smooth transition to a new experience.

Step 5:

12 Month Engagement

  • A strategic year-long collaboration of helping you grow.
  • Please see our Fees and Services sections for more detail and understanding.

Step 6:

Continue or Close Out?

  • At the end of our 12-month engagement, we will determine if we should continue our collaboration or close out.

Our Fees:

Every journey begins with a first step, and in our experience a person’s ability to grow and put in the work required to achieve their objectives is much more important than their financial capital.

Our fees are based on the overall complexity of the household. Complexity is much more than the external elements of cash flow, account balances, investable assets, investment properties, and/or tax situation. It also includes personal internal elements such as:

  • What type of money conversations did you have growing up?
  • What is you comfort level in making financial decisions?
  • What is your comfort level in discussing certain topics (investments) over others (estate planning)?
  • What are your personal successes and mistakes that stand out?
  • How does your personality, outlook, energy, confidence level, and motivation influence the actions necessary to achieve your objectives?
  • What skills and knowledge need to be developed, understood, and/or refined?
  • Have you ever worked with an advisor before?
  • Do you have trusted resources that listen, provide guidance, and honest feedback?
  • Are there family, cultural, and/or employment factors needed to be considered?
  • Do you feel everything is working in alignment, do you feel overwhelmed, or unsure of the next steps?
  • What is the order of priority, support, and time involved for implementing the various pieces for you?

These external and internal elements are the foundation for a comprehensive plan that will have:

  • A standardized component addressing the core subject areas of cash flow, protection and risk management, investments, life goals, retirement planning, tax planning, workplace benefits, and estate planning.
  • A niche component addressing the issues specific to Independents, Newlyweds, Blended Families, and/or the 10/30 Crew.
  • A personalized component addressing your individual objectives.

Our annual fee range for comprehensive planning is $4,000 - $15,000
