FINANCIAL PLANNER – Full-time in Washington, DC

We are a small (yet rapidly growing) fiduciary, fee-only financial planning firm rapidly expanding in our niche. Valor Wealth Partners (ValorWealthPartners.com) specializes in providing financial planning advice to mid-career and pre-retiree civilian federal employees. Our clients are the reason we exist and we strive to make their experience exceptional. We have offices in Boston, Washington, D.C., and virtually work with clients in 19 states.


Our marketing efforts result in a high amount of leads each year, so the accountability for business development is shared between this role and the company. However, the final conversation and conversion will be in your hands, as will the ongoing service of that book of business. Work responsibilities will include the following:

Primary Duties:

• You will work on an ensemble team in a financial planner role.

• Manage client relationships as their lead advisor.

• Develop, present, and oversee the implementation of financial plans to clients.

• Provide objective, unbiased financial advice to clients via virtual or face-to-face meetings.

• Conduct client meetings, take notes, and complete follow-up tasks.

• Research clients’ questions regarding their federal benefits and financial situation.

• Complete or delegate appropriate tasks alongside supporting staff members as appropriate.

• Development of leads into clients from company marketing efforts.

• Understand and support the firm’s mission and strategy.

• Adhere to company and industry compliance policies.

• This is an in-person role with a flexible work schedule and the ability to occasionally work remotely after completing initial training and consistently maintaining expectations.

Additional Duties as you gain experience:

• Coordinate with professionals (CPA, estate planning attorney, career coach, etc.)

• Contribute to firm’s marketing efforts through networking, article writing, newsletter content, and/or speaking engagements.

• Create content for YouTube and various social media platforms.

• Participate in the completion of strategic initiatives and projects.

• Occasional availability for evening appointments.

• Occasional travel out of state may be required.


Qualifications:

  • Series 65 or 66, or waiver qualification (i.e., CFP® certification) with clean U4. CFP® is a plus.
  • 4-year college degree
  • Adherence to the VWP Fiduciary Oath
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel)
  • 1-3 years prior work experience as a financial planner, preferably in a fee-only planning firm


Compensation:

  • The starting salary is between $70-90k, depending on your qualifications and experience.
  • $10k increases to salary will occur for every 10 new clients you serve. After 50 clients you will have salary increases AND quarterly bonuses.
