Job Purpose:

Independently provide comprehensive financial planning, investment consulting and related service to affluent individuals, families and organizations with complex financial situations. Also, potentially serve as direct leader and coach to less experienced Investment Consultants and/or financial planning and client service associates.


Responsibilities:

1) Investment Consulting & Service – 70%:
  • Serve as primary Investment Consultant for assigned individual, family and organizational client relationships, delivering exceptional advice and service to achieve high client satisfaction.
  • Serve as secondary Investment Consultant for assigned client relationships, helping primary Investment Consultant deliver exceptional advice and service in a team environment and serving as back up Investment Consultant when primary Investment Consultant is unavailable.
  • Assess and monitor each client’s financial situation, goals, risk tolerance, issues, etc. to provide comprehensive and tailored financial planning and investment advice, and proactively propose portfolio rebalance suggestions, as needed.
  • Assist with firm’s efforts to continually improve financial planning, investment consulting and client service processes.
  • Help plan and execute client service communications and events like periodic newsletters, market commentaries, educational workshops, client recognition events, etc.
  • Independently manage or assist with assigned projects related to client service, financial planning and investment consulting.
  • Lead or serve as member of firm’s Client Service, Financial Planning, Fiduciary Consulting and Investment Committees.

2) Business Development – 20%:

  • Assist with identifying and onboarding prospective new clients, including the preparation and presentation of investment and financial plans using multiple software tools.

3) People Leadership – 10%:

  • If sufficiently experienced and interested, serve as direct leader and coach to less experienced Investment Consultants and/or financial planning and client service associates.


Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • BA or BS degree in finance or related field.
  • CFP® designation or passed CFP® exam with strong belief in comprehensive financial planning.
  • 5+ years of successful experience independently serving as primary Investment Consultant for affluent clients with complex financial situations.
  • 5+ years of experience performing comprehensive financial planning for affluent clients.
  • Demonstrated excellence in client service.
  • Unquestionable personal and business ethics and integrity.
  • Preference for and proficiency with executing and refining consistent advice and service processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pleasant, friendly attitude with excellent interpersonal skills with clients and peers.
  • Embraces team approach to advising and serving clients.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills related to investment consulting and financial planning.
  • Highly flexible with ability to work in changing environment.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and other software applications.
  • Working knowledge of MoneyGuidePro financial planning software or similar tool.


Preferred:

  • 3+ years of direct people leadership, coaching and performance management experience.
  • AIF designation and/or working knowledge of the Global Fiduciary Standards of Excellence developed by fi360.
  • Experience with the following (or equivalent) programs: Black Diamond (performance reporting), Salesforce (CRM), Laserfiche (document management), FinaMetrica (risk tolerance), fi360 online platform (investment screening).
  • NAPFA-registered financial advisor.
  • Business development experience with strong desire to help firm grow and prosper.
