Richard E. Chiozzi was the co-founding principal of Successful Financial Solutions, Inc.*, in 1996 with Sid Blum, CFP®. SFS became one of the mid-west’s largest “fee-only” financial planning and registered investment advisory firms in Illinois. Richard holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Financial Administration from Boston College and two advanced Graduate Degrees in Education from Boston University (Masters of Education Degree and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study Degree). He is a Certified Financial Planner, CFP® (designation held since 1981) and has been awarded a 30 year membership certificate from the Financial Planning Association and the CFP® Board of Standards. He was a Registered Securities Principal and is a Registered Investment Advisor. He had been in the financial service industry since 1981 and has lectured at NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) and FPA (Financial Planning Association) national and regional conferences on “Financial Planning for the High Net- worth Client”. Previous to starting his own firm, Richard was a Vice-President of the Asset Management Division of First Hawaiian Bank in Honolulu Hawaii. Division services included: Trust Services, Investment Management and Private Banking. He also held the position of Senior Vice-President of a securities brokerage division of a Chicago Bank. He was the First elected President of the 1400 professional members of The Financial Planning Association of Illinois and sat on the regional boards of: The National Association of Personal Financial Advisor, The Institute of Certified Financial Planners, as well as The International Association for Financial Planning.

Additional Information

He was a frequent author on financial planning issues in leading financial publications. Richard hosted a syndicated cable television talk show in Chicago called “Financial Solutions”. After he sold his Chicago firm in 2003, he returned with his wife (Margo E. Heath-Chiozzi, M.D.) and two boys (Christopher & Anthony) to the shores of Long Island Sound in Connecticut. Richard currently sits on the Guilford Pension Committee in Guilford, Connecticut and advisors on the pension plans of the police, fire and employees of the town of Guilford.
