Scott is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and Director of Wealth Management at WorthPointe, LLC. Graduating from the University of Maine with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, he later earned the CFP® designation in 1986.

He authored Evidence Based Investing - Separating Fact From Fiction which endeavors to separate fact from fiction regarding investing by using data from academic studies. He co-authored Surving to Thriving: A Financial Resource for Divorcees and Widows and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, MainStreet.com, US News & World Report, Money Magazine, Time.com and Investopedia. 

From 2015-2020, Scott was honored by Texas Monthly Magazine as a winner of the Five Star Professional Wealth Manager for Austin, San Antonio and the Central Texas region. Out of several thousand nominated advisors 475 are selected. The selection process is based on ten criteria including years in the industry, clean regulatory record, client retention, education and professional designations.

He works with clients involves strategizing with them in the areas of investments, estate planning, tax minimization, risk management and charitable giving -- helping them coordinate the multi-dimensional aspects of their financial lives and assist them in making smart decisions about their finances.

He started his career in 1982 working for an east coast-based brokerage firm and subsequently worked with a boutique CPA firm as a financial planner and most recently, as a wealth manager for a large Registered Investment Advisory firm.  He has taught numerous classes on investments and financial planning for community education programs.

Additional Information

Scott served as the Chairperson for the NAPFA Texas Study Group and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Child Protection in Austin, TX and and is the past Board President for Susan G. Komen Austin.

His claim to fame is being the starting point guard for his high school basketball team that won the Maine State Championship and New England Basketball Championship beating the 7th ranked team in the country. The team was honored by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

In my spare time, Scott enjoys golf, swimming, running and volleyball.
