At R.W. Stanley Investment Planning our typical client is a self-directed investor, or someone who would like to become a self-directed investor. Our clients have often come to the realization, or soon do, that there exists a large potential cost savings available to those investors who self-direct (execute) their own investment portfolios but still need and use some professional guidance on financial planning and the application of Modern Portfolio Theory to their investments. Our hourly as-needed services are designed specifically to meet the needs of such clients. Because we sell no products and take no assets under management our clients tend to feel at ease with our process knowing we have nothing to gain from our financial recommendations other than their full satisfaction.With most new clients we start by establishing a workable financial plan (capital needs analysis) which incorporates their current financial circumstances into a detailed financial roadmap which can help guide them to where they hope to be in the future. Based on the outcome of capital needs analysis performed in the initial planning process we move onto the construction of a low-cost customized self-directed investment portfolio built exclusively on each client’s unique need and willingness to take on financial risk. Once the client’s written financial plan and detailed portfolio spreadsheet have been created and
thoroughly reviewed with the client we provide recommendations for low cost custodians (fund companies or brokers) where the client can easily execute and track their customized investment portfolio for a fraction of what most investors pay for portfolio management. In some cases our clients also retain us to help implement the portfolio recommendations but that’s not typically the case.

As a successful small business owner operating in the financial services industry for twenty years, Bob realized it was very difficult to find competent, objective, conflict free, financial planning and investment advice. He concluded that much of the industry was based exclusively on product sales and driven by an almost universal greed and lack of any ethical or moral code. Stanley Investment Planning based on that simple observation. Bob’s firm is not affiliated with any broker dealer, nor is R.W. Stanley Investment Planning associated with any insurance company. In fact, they do not sell investment products, nor do they take assets under management. Instead Bob works directly for you, the valued client, on an hourly, as-needed basis.
