Joel specializes in working with corporate executives and other experienced professionals with complex benefit packages. He also works with many Federal Government employees and retirees and is well acquainted with their unique planning needs.

Joel assists families with preparing adult children to be inheritors of assets in the future - from designing/analyzing estate plans to holding family meetings with multiple generations. There are many techniques that assist with transferring wealth and values to future generations, with the primary goal being the perpetuation of wealth to strategic goals.

As a Fee Only advisor, Joel helps families arrive at answers to their complex financial questions. He offers a personal, evidence-based approach to both investing and wealth management. At the end of the day, the person who decides whether they have received the desired service is you, the client.

Additional Information

Joel has been involved in the financial services industry since 2004, after beginning his career in hotel finance with Marriott International. Prior to joining Savant, he worked at a Registered Investment Advisor in Rockville, MD, and then served as Vice President of The Corcoran Group in Bethesda from 2008 until its acquisition by Savant in 2015. He has a membership interest in Savant and serves on the Investment Committee.

Joel graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management (Finance) from Brigham Young University and was a National Merit and Ezra Taft Benson Scholar there. He earned his Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®), and an Accredited Portfolio Management AdvisorSM (APMA®). He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and has been quoted in Forbes, US News & World Report, Washingtonian magazine, and on CNBC.com.

Joel is a board member for the Montgomery County Family Justice Center Foundation, a non-profit that provides resources to survivors of domestic violence.

Joel and his wife Kristin have four children and live in Olney, MD. He enjoys the outdoors in all forms and is a student of American History, particularly the Civil War period. He loves Italian culture and cuisine and speaks the language fluently. He enjoys racquetball, basketball, hiking, and cycling.
