Thinking Big Financial
After studying accounting and finance at Georgetown University, I spent ten years working for an asset management firm (a long-short equity hedge fund) picking stocks to invest in and sell short. The business taught me a discipline about investing, how to understand companies, industries and market psychology. Most of all, the years of working, learning and studying helped me to develop an investment process and set of beliefs, which I strongly adhere to.
Despite not working in personal finance, I occasionally found friends and family coming to me asking an assortment of questions about taxes, investments and “the market,” among other things. While it took me a while to realize, I learned that these conversations and relationships were very fulfilling. And I also found how powerful advice, a different perspective or to be heard could impact people’s lives. It motivated me to bring my skillset into a different environment to help a different community: everyday people.
And so that is where the idea of my business came from — putting together the inspiration of helping people achieve their dreams by using my investment experience to create positive change in people’s financial lives. I am a true believer that it is through a roadmap that we realize our aspirations no matter how big or small. And our financial lives often play a large role in that. A financial plan allowed me to take this step in creating my own business and I feel that with a plan, anyone can be a step closer to their life’s dreams.
